We are very grateful for our neighbor Erlinda Doherty, who has organized virtual wine school classes during quarantine. Olivette’s Wine School has given Erlinda the opportunity to share her passion for wine while connecting our community during these distant times. In addition to educating us on the intricacies of wine, in June, she wrote an article that sheds light on the lack of diversity within this industry. Although she does not consider herself “wine activist,” she felt that is was simultaneously overdue to discuss this issue and timely given the circumstances in our nation. In addition to awareness, she is following through with her mission to support black winemakers by partnering with AVM to start bringing examples of these wines into the shop, and will also be organizing a wine class highlighting these talented individuals in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
We encourage you to check out Erlinda’s article below.
