“It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become.” ~ The Lorax
On a blustery early spring morning, Olivette residents gathered for the inaugural event of our Olivette Tree Committee, the Azalea Island Planting. Flash forward to late spring, we saw azaleas blossoming and showing the potential of what they will become.
Many thanks to members of the Olivette Tree Committee for organizing this event, and to the Olivette community for the tremendous show of support in donating and installing the new azalea garden. They will be a beautiful reminder each year of the power of our community coming together to make a better future. The crew planted 66 azaleas in total, of the following varieties:
-
R. Arborescens to 15’ May – August White w. red pistils, very fragrant
R. periclymeniodes Pinxterbloom 4 – 12’ Late-mid season Pale pink or white/purple, fragrant
