Olivette Riverside Community and Farm garners recognition from the North Carolina Home Builders Association
Olivette recognized by NCHBA as 2018 “NC Community of the Year” & “Best Sustainable Community”
Olivette Riverside Community and Farm, a farm-centered community located in Asheville, North Carolina, was recognized this week at the North Carolina Home Builders Association 2018 STARS Awards as both North Carolina Community of the Year and North Carolina Best Sustainable Community.
With a solid foundation in the principles of new urbanism, the vision for this new community springs from the tireless contributions of a dedicated team committed to creating a replicable model for developing healthy, connected communities. The Olivette team strives to use the best available practices that are in alignment with Olivette’s core values of family, community, education and sustainable happiness.
Partner Scott Austin reflects, “These awards represent a confirmation that people are yearning for a simpler time. We strive to create community connections in part through front-porch-living, where you know your neighbors well enough to borrow an egg or a cup of sugar. We can create wonderful places on this earth, where we are connected to one another through food and nature, where quality of life and environmental stewardship are the driving forces behind simple daily decisions. Pioneering new community members who are whole-heartedly aligned with Olivette’s guiding principles, and each offer their own unique contributions, are the strongest assets we have. Olivette is remarkable, and as it continues to grow we will strive to recapture a balance that is often missing from modern life.”
