2nd Annual HarvestFest
August 27th
3pm – 6pm
HarvestFest is our annual family friendly benefit event for ASAP’s Double Snap For Fruits And Vegetables. Our 2022 HarvestFest produced a significant donation of $5400 in its first year! Our community has rallied behind this event making successful by volunteering for all the event shifts, donating dollars directly, having Chatt Hills Music coordinate top quality music and helping to organize a successful silent auction. We are looking forward to this year’s HarvestFest on August 27th!
The Silent Auction
Our silent auction made up 75% of our total donation. The silent auction comprises of donations from local businesses and baskets created by our hamlets. The Hamlet Baskets truly enhanced our silent auction and allowed residents to compile small donations into a valuable basket. Participation is completely voluntary, if you would like to participate, reach out to your hamlet’s events committee member. Double Snap For Fruits and Vegetables Testimonials
SNAP Shopper: “Shopping at farmers markets has been life changing. This makes me feel connected to the community and to the land. I’m able to eat better, incorporating more fresh produce into my meals. I’m disabled with multiple health conditions and being able to have fresh food grown locally has helped my health tremendously.”
Farmer Vendor: “It’s allowed more money to be spent at the market which has really made a difference on the income side. The difference between barely making it and feeling like the market is worth my time to sell as a small business owner is astounding.”
East Asheville Tailgate Market Manager: “The Double SNAP program has vastly improved our market in many ways! Vendors have consistently told me that their EBT sales have improved adding to their overall sales. Vendors who have regular EBT customers have brought these specific low income customers from other counties to our market because of this program shifting our demographics.”
