One of the things that makes Olivette so special is our community farm – it’s what makes us an agrihood after all! But it’s not just a curiosity or something separate from the development; it’s an integral part of our mission of fostering a human connection to the land. There’s something special about locally grown produce, about the land nourishing its residents even as the residents tend the land. And of course there are all the health and environmental benefits as well. It has always been our goal to share this with our residents and the community at large, which is where our CSA comes in.
CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is the absolute best way to get your hands on the freshest seasonal vegetables, herbs and flowers, all grown locally in the heart of Olivette. It’s also a great way to support local agriculture by helping farmers offset the yearly costs of seeds and supplies, and reduce the environmental impact of the long distances food travels to go from a farm to your plate. Best of all, eating locally and eating seasonally go hand in hand; we grow an exciting diversity of crops, everything from well-loved favorites to new and heirloom varieties you might never have tried before, so every week is an adventure.
A Traditional Box Share CSA membership gives you a box/share of our harvest of fresh local produce every week for 20 weeks during the growing season (mid-May through October). This is usually enough for couples or families who cook most of their meals throughout the week, making it super convenient in addition to all the other benefits! If you prefer more flexibility in choice, we also offer a Market Share membership, with the season running as long as we are at markets. This has the added benefit of allowing you to travel during the season without missing a share.
Limited CSA memberships are now available for this upcoming season, and we hope you’ll join us for 20 weeks of fresh local produce!
